Bawarchi East Windsor Review
Bawarchi Restaurant Review: An Indian Gem in East Windsor, NJ
Oh, what a welcome surprise!
We were delighted to come across an Indian restaurant in East Windsor like Bawarchi that serves delicious food accompanied by pleasing and friendly service.
You see, if our long experience is any indication, most Indian restaurants in New Jersey are horror shows that serve crappy food compounded by rotten service.
The difference is merely in the degree of agony they inflict upon hapless diners.
But Bawarchi turned out to be pleasantly different.
Much of what we sampled at Bawarchi, be they vegetarian items or non-vegetarian fare, appetizers or entrees, soup or beverage, turned out to be delicious.
Bawarchi East Windsor - Fine Chicken Items
Chicken Tikka Masala, a fairly commonplace item at New Jersey Indian restaurants, was a creamy delight at Bawarchi that tickled our palate no end.
The thick gravy was creamy, flavorful and heavenly and the tender chicken pieces had nicely absorbed the flavor of the gravy.
Just yummy with Naan bread.
Even better was the Tandoori Chicken that hotfooted it from the fiery Tandoor to our table.
Delicious, Juicy Tandoori Chicken
Well marinated and with a faint sprinkling of some ginger-salt powder on it, Bawarchi's Tandoori Chicken was simply divine.
It's been eons since we had such delicious, juicy Tandoori Chicken.

Bawarchi Indian Restaurant - Good Vegetarian Fare
Most of the vegetarian items at Bawarchi were equally pleasing attesting to the high quality of staff manning Bawarchi's kitchen.
These are not one-trick ponies.
From the piping hot, flavorful Mutter Paneer to the creamy Mixed Vegetable Saag to the humble Dal Makhani, it was an embarrassment of riches that had us in a swoon.
Cream of Vegetable Soup with tiny pieces of carrot, green peas and potato, was hot and very flavorful.
Yummy Veg Pakoras
We also fell upon the assorted Pakora appetizers (Spinach Pakora, Onion Pakora, Potato Bajji and Brinjal Bajji) heaped on our plate. With dry ginger powder sprinkled on them, they set the stage for a fine meal.

Bawarchi East Windsor - Disappointing Vegetable Biryani
It's a rare meal at an Indian restaurant that's without blemishes.
And Bawarchi was not without some stains.
Our principal grouse at Bawarchi was with the rice items.
Both Vegetable Biryani and Plain Rice suffered from a common problem - the rice was way too dry. Hopefully, the next time we're there we won't encounter the dry rice issue.

Thankfully, the Rice was the only pothole we hit at Bawarchi.
Bawarchi East Windsor - Good Naan Bread
Naan Bread came piping hot to the table.
Boy, were they superb.
We've not had such good Naan in a long time.
OK Dessert, Fine Masala Tea
For desserts, we tried the familiar Gajar Halwa (carrot pudding).
Gajar Halwa was a wee bit on the dry side but still flavorful.

We topped off our fine meal with a cup of Indian Masala Tea.
Boy, with the nice flavor of cinnamon and clove coming through this was one fine cup of Masala Chai!

Bawarchi Indian - Pleasing Service
Indian restaurants are notorious for the poor service they inflict on diners.
And so we were thrilled to find a polite and friendly waiter in Francis who spared no efforts to make our meal a pleasant experience.
Francis, a Philadelphia native and a recent arrival to East Windsor from Chicago, went out of his way to get us fresh food from the kitchen, kept our water glasses filled and removed the finished plates promptly.
Bawarchi Indian Restaurant Rating
All in all, Bawarchi on Rt-130 South in East Windsor is one of the few Indian restaurants in New Jersey that we'd care to revisit.
Bawarchi is located on Rt 130S in the Royal Plaza Complex, next to McDonald's in East Windsor NJ.
Among the endless Sahara of crappy Indian restaurants in New Jersey, Bawarchi is that rare oasis of delight.
