Square Cut Piscataway Review
Square Cut Piscataway Review: Humans & Animals Must Avoid
A lot of Indian restaurants in New Jersey are bad.
But some like Square Cut at 1665 Stelton Road in Piscataway are obscenely bad and tarnish the fair name of our fine, beloved Indian cuisine.
Besides Chaat (Indian street food), this hole-in-the-wall also serves South Indian fare like Dosa and Idli as well as bakery items like pastries and puffs.
Alas, much of what we tried at Square Cut turned out to be a bad hair-cut for our taste-buds and wallet.
Unlike its Indian neighbors like Tawa or Sukh Sagar, Square Cut Piscataway is not a full service restaurant but more of a takeout/self-serve place with a few tables.
Square Cut Piscataway - Horrible Dosa
Masala Dosa, a South Indian favorite, is always prepared fresh.
But at Square Cut we were served Masala Dosa ($5.99) that was cold except in the middle where the onion-potato filling is added.
Square Cut's Dosa was not in the least flavorful and a big letdown.
Square Cut Masala Dosa - Cold Shit
Mercifully, the onion-potato filling inside the Dosa was all right.
Square Cut's Sambar (an accompaniment to Dosa, Idli and Medhu Vada) was plain awful.
The Sambar was way too salty, low on Tamarind, low on Sambar spices and had not the least bit of Sambar flavor.
The two Chutneys (Coconut and Tomato-Onion) were cold, as in refrigerated cold. It's a shame that Indian restaurants in New Jersey like Square Cut do not serve fresh Chutneys to paying customers.
Both Chutneys were low on Chillies but the Onion Chutney was at least flavorful. The Coconut Chutney was awful.
Square Cut Piscataway - Hard Idlis
Idlis ($3.99) at Square Cut were hopeless.
Square Cut Hard Idlis - Bad
So hard that we wondered if they even qualified to be called Idli.
Maybe, these hard Idlis are meant to be used at construction sites in New Jersey.
Square Cut Piscataway - Awful Samosa Chaat
Square Cut's Samosa Chat ($4.49) was an inedible monstrosity that one good human wouldn't serve to another.
Square Cut Piscataway - Awful Samsosa Chaat
Not in the least spicy, it was a little high on the Tamarind Date sauce.
Easily, one of the worst Samosa Chaat to touch our lips.
Disgusting!
Square Cut - Sour Puffs, Bad Black Forest Cake
The Vegetable Puff had a weird sour flavor that put us off while the Black Forest pastry had a chemical taste.

Square Cut Black Forest Pastry - Bad
|
In our experience, a good Black Forest Pastry can send orgasmic thrills coursing through the whole body.
Alas, the Square Cut Black Forest pastry was not even soft, as it ought to be but a little hard.
Square Cut Piscataway - Big Disappointment
All in all, our visit to Square Cut turned out to be a mighty disappointment.
In cricket terminology, Square Cut scored a duck with much of the the food we tried.
Guys, if you love good Indian food as much as we do avoid Square Cut.
Square Cut is a disgustingly crappy Indian restaurant that does not deserve your business.
The Piscataway/South Plainfield area has plenty of other Indian restaurants that serve much better food.
